Deep breathing, mindfulness, yoga/movement, and guided imagery are simple practices included in Roots Up videos to help children calm their nervous system and build emotional regulation.
- Deep breathing – Sends a signal to the brain that everything is ok and it’s safe to relax
- Mindfulness – trains attention and helps children notice and manage emotions
- Yoga / Movement – releases tension, grounds the body, and supports self-regulation
- Guided imagery – uses imagination to practice coping skills and reduce stress
Why it works: Practicing these regularly strengthens the brain’s stress response, builds emotional awareness, and helps the nervous system stay calmer over time.
