Services by Roots Up

Roots Up offers private and group classes, as well as workshops, to provide soothing tools for stress relief and emotional well-being.

“Just Press Play” Video Library

Our core offering is a library of 5-minute videos for children’s emotional health, a self-regulation video tool built on trauma-informed practices and designed to accommodate neurodiverse needs. Our evidence-based 5-Minute video library, is a ‘just press play’ resource designed to teach children practical tools for managing big emotions and building self-regulation.

Private Classes

Using our evidence-based curriculum as a guide, we weave in specific practices that best support your child and their goals for the session. Each class empowers youth with a self-soothing tool to take away and integrate into daily life.

In-person private classes are great for:

  • Children looking for tools to manage stress, anxiety, or anger
  • Neurodivergent children who may need more tools in their toolkit to soothe big emotions
  • Families looking for ways to create simple home practices to bring soothing tools into the home
  • A group of friends who would like to have a weekly class together

We built Roots Up on years of research, first-hand experience, and collaboration with experts — but children have been our most important contributors.

Listening to and learning from the children we serve is our greatest asset.

I’m definitely more relaxed which helps me be kinder… Peaceful thoughts, peaceful words… It helps me do that in real life.”

Taki

Sometimes I get really upset during the day and I use those flower breaths and they really help me calm down.”

Ryan

If something was going on at home and I was stressed out the videos helped me calm down and get ready for the day.”

Anna

You can’t fail at mindfulness. You can fail at math. You can fail to construct a sentence. And kids know when they don’t succeed in their academics. Mindfulness is structured in such a way that it is literally failsafe. And I think for many students, especially those that have challenges in their lives, to be able to engage in an activity in which they feel, ‘I will not be judged, I will not have a feeling of shame or failure… I might not have this in any other aspect of my life, but if I can get three minutes of feeling safe in my life — I’m going to take that.’
